Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 3 -
San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Meeting - February 17, 1998
4. PUBLIC COMMENTS
Public Comments are limited to 5 minutes per person. The public is invited
to make any comments related to Agenda items, or other items of public
interest, at this time.
A. Rick Richards, 335 Peralta Avenue, addressed the Council and invited
them to a Friends of the Creek Environmental Update Forum scheduled for
Saturday, February 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Marina
Community Center.
B. Iris Loux, Neptune Drive, addressed the Council, encouraging them to
vote "No" on the Conference Center, as the developer is not labor
friendly.
C. Tom Kivett, 150 Haas Avenue, addressed the Council in opposition to the
Conference Center. He added that the developer does not want to hire
union people, and the issue should be placed on the ballot.
D. Juanita Wagner, 1170 Victoria, addressed the Council in opposition to
the Conference Center. She expressed that we need more union jobs and
that this issue should be placed on the ballot.
E. Carey Walker, 471 Santa Monica, addressed the Council regarding train
noise, soundwalls, who voted to put the soundwall up, railroad tracks,
red-light runners, and the need to slow people down. It was also noted
there is a Candidate's Night tentatively scheduled for April 28th at the
Cornerstone Cafe.
F. Mark Behning, 725 Joaquin, addressed the Council regarding the Boulders
Housing Development proposal and expressed concerns with the
Environmental Impact Report as well as the collapsing of the hillside.
G. Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, addressed the Council regarding the
New Business Items relating to ballot issues and arguments. He
questioned why the gun tax issue was not on the Agenda and clarified the
argument process. He concluded by stating that the Council, by a
majority vote, could put a measure on the ballot and that they only need
one more vote to remove the gun-tax ordinance.
5. CONSENT CALENDAR
Consent Calendar items are typically routine in nature and are considered
for approval by the City Council with one single action. The City Council
may remove items from the Consent Calendar for purposes of discussion.
Items listed on the Consent Calendar are deemed to have been read by title.
Items 5.F and 5.G were removed from the Consent Calendar to New Business.
The remaining items on the Consent Calendar were approved as follows:
M/SJC Galvan and Polvorosa.
