This being the time and place for the Public Hearing on the above matter, Uche Udemezue gave the staff report and provided a slide presentation of the referenced district. The Hearing was then opened to the public. There being no comments from the public, the Public Hearing was closed. M/S/C Loeffler and Polvorosa. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 Council discussion ensued regarding the process by which the street lights were selected. Vice Mayor Loeffler expressed a suspicion that, once the lamps are installed, there will be some concerns expressed from the residents of that area as to how it changes the look of the neighborhood. Staff responded by indicating to the Council the efforts made to include the neighborhood residents in the decision-making process with regard to the street lights, trees, sidewalks, gutters, driveways, and sanitary- sewer lines. Council Member Lothrop noted the issue is "preserving the neighborhood." She feel s there needs to be guidelines to honor the "flavor" of the neighborhood. She also added that input from the neighborhood association is necessary. Discussion ensued regarding the possibility of delaying selection of the street-light fixture and comparing the cost of replacement versus rehabilitation of the old fixtures.
