Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 2 -
San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Meeting - May 18, 1998
4. PUBLIC COMMENTS
Public Comments are limited to 5 minutes per person. The public is invited
to make any comments related to Agenda items, or other items of public
interest, at this time.
A. Ann Hague, 1102 San Rafael Street, President of the Estudillo
Homeowners' Association, addressed the Council, asking them to do
whatever it takes to ensure the Conference Center project moves forward.
Regarding the MacArthur corridor, she commented on how she was pleased
with the improvements so far but expressed the need for more facade
improvements. She stated further that she hopes the new committee will
get input from the homeowners, as well. She thanked Gordon Galvan for
all the work he has done for his District, for his Redevelopment efforts
in trying to get Trader Joe's to locate to San Leandro, and for the work
and support he has shown for the Network Conference Center project.
Council Member Galvan responded by thanking Ms. Hague for her kind
words.
B. Christine Pickerall, Neptune Drive, addressed the Council, noting the
Council and citizens should think long and hard about the Conference
Center site. She voiced concerns as to whether that area will become
blighted if the Center is not built. She also noted, if the Conference
Center is built, perhaps it will become a strong participant in the
City. She feels the Conference Center will be a major addition and a
good one for the City as a whole.
C. Charlie Kaufman, 545 Blossom Nay, addressed the Council in support of
the proposed Redevelopment Area and the recommended committee being
considered later in the Agenda.
D.
