She indicated it was confusing for <br />residents in the Oro Loma District who received all four notices when they aze <br />only paying for one. She reminded the public the City only gets 17 cents per <br />property-tax dollaz paid to the County. <br />Vice Mayor Galvan made a Motion to continue this item for further information <br />from staff on the costs for privatization of services and recommendations as to <br />how to realize savings on street sweeping and curb-side service, with emphasis on <br />how long it would be cost effective and if the rates would hold steady. <br />Council Member Glaze stressed the need to hold the line on storm-water fees. He <br />is not in favor of an increase. He, also, would like to hear how we could provide <br />better service or at a lesser cost. <br />The following Motion was then introduced: <br />-- Minute Order No. 98-44, Matter of Adoption of Proposed Rate Increases for <br />Refuse, Recycling, Sewer, and Storm Water Service Chazges (required Public <br />Hearings, in accordance with Proposition 218, for adoption of property-related <br />fees). (1051/1078/1934/1221/2318) <br />The City Council continued the matter of adoption of proposed rate <br />increases for refuse, recycling, sewer, and storm water service to the August <br />17, 1998, City Council Meeting; and requested that staff return with <br />information on the costs for privatization of services and recommendations as <br />to how to realize savings on street sweeping and curb-side service, with <br />emphasis on how long it would be cost effective and if the rates would hold <br />steaay. <br />M/S/C Galvan and Loeffler. George Saunders, 1469 Jennifer Street, Addressed the Council on Behalf of <br />Command Post 117 of the American Legion, and noted there will be an <br />American Legion Dance on September 12, 1998, at the San Leandro American <br />Legion Veteran's Building from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. He also noted, on November <br />11, there will be the Veteran's Day Parade in Alameda, but there will be a flag <br />raising ceremony at San Leandro City Hall at 8:00 a.m., as usual. <br />
