~, ' <br />Minutes -City of San Leandro City Council and Page 17 <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting -August 3, 1998 <br />Mayor Young indicated that she, too, would like to see a Work Session <br />dedicated only to the issue of Committees, indicating the Council does need to <br />make some appointments so that some meetings could be covered. <br />With regard to Council Member Loeffler's remarks about the Minutes, the <br />Mayor indicated the Council has previously taken action to have "Action- <br />Only" Minutes. She did indicate and confirm with the City Clerk that, if <br />something is "stated for the record," those comments will be transcribed <br />verbatim. <br />6. Vice Mayor Galvan then recognized and presented to Garry Loeffier a plaque <br />honoring his efforts as Vice Mayor over the last year. <br />9. ADJOURN <br />Mayor Young adjourned the meeting at 11:15 p.m. and called for a moment of silence <br />in Memory of Erminia Oberti and Frank Hernandez. <br />Erminia passed away on July 20 and was 104 years old. She was born and lived in San <br />Leandro all her life. It was recognized that Erminia raised two children, had five grand <br />children, and nine great-grandchildren. She was a resident of the Washington Manor <br />area and was previously honored by the Council on her 100 birthday in 1994. <br />Frank Hernandez passed away on July 25 at the age of 90. He was born in Spain and <br />moved to the United States at the age of 13. He and his family settled immediately in <br />San Leandro. He owned a poultry company in the Ashland area for many years. He <br />and his wife raised two children and had four grandchildren. He was one of the <br />founding members of the Club Iberico and was an honorable member of that <br />organization for 72 years.
