,' <br />Minutes -City of San Leandro City Council and Page 16 <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting -August 3,1998 <br />C. City Council Comments <br />1. Vice Mayor Galvan commented that his year as the East Bay Dischargers <br />Authority (EBDA) Chair has concluded, and he will be making a full report to <br />the Council at their August 17, 1998, meeting. <br />2. Council Member Nardine commended the Police Officers' Association for their <br />Summer Games; congratulated the City on their City Resource Directory, the <br />CalTrans Bike Lane Grant, and the $200,000 grant from the Environmental <br />Protection Agency (EPA) for undergrounding utilities. <br />She also commented on her attendance at the conference in Monterey, stating <br />it was well worth it. <br />Council Member Loeffler asked that Council Members mark their calendars for <br />the upcoming Oakland/San Leandro Revitalization Meeting on September 19, <br />1998. He noted there are plans for painting a home in Oakland and San <br />Leandro. <br />Council Member Loeffler further commented on a recent waste-reduction <br />article in the San Francisco Chronicle and asked that staff obtain a copy for <br />the City Council's information. <br />Council Member Loeffler stated, with regard to Committees, he would like to <br />see a Work Session scheduled to talk about Committee assignments. <br />Council Member Loeffler also reported on the August 5, Ad Hoc Committee <br />of Oakland/San Leandro whereby they discussed airport entryway design. <br />In conclusion, Council Member Loeiller stated that, since he puts a lot of <br />thought into his comments before making them at a meeting, he would like to <br />see the Minutes reflect what he actually says during a Council Meeting rather <br />than having them summarized. <br />4. Council Member Lothrop reported that she attended the first Community <br />Noise Abatement Meeting at the Port of Oakland recently and she would <br />report on it fully at a later date. She concluded by stating she feels the Mayor <br />did an excellent job at presiding over her first Council Meeting. <br />5. Mayor Young announced that tomorrow night is National Night Out and <br />indicated it will be held at several different locations throughout the <br />community. She thanked everyone for staying for the whole meeting. <br />Mayor Young reported on the recent visit by the Prime Minister of Cape Verde <br />this last Sunday. <br />
