CALL TO ORDER <br />A. Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag <br />B. Roll Call <br />PRESENT: Council Members Galvan, Glaze, Grant, Loeffler, Lothrop, <br />Nardine; Mayor Young <br />ABSENT: None <br />2. PRESENTATIONS <br />A. Swearing-In and Oath of Office for Newly Appointed Council Member, District 2 - <br />Surlene Grant. <br />The City Clerk called Surlene Grant forward and swore her in as Council Member, <br />District 2. <br />Council Member Grant proceeded to make brief remarks about her appointment to <br />Council District 2 and acknowledged her family and friends present, as well as her <br />associations and support from the Bay Area Black Journalists Association and the <br />Black Women Organized for Political Action. She stated she looks forward to <br />serving her district, as well as the community as a whole. <br />The Mayor requested that New Business, Item 6.A, be taken out of order and <br />requested that Council act on it at this time. <br />6. NEW BUSINESS <br />A. Minute Order No. 98-47, Matter of Nomination of Member to Recreation and <br />Parks Commission (District 6) -Luster Knight. (1020) <br />The City Council approved the nomination of Luster Knight to the <br />Recreation and Parks Commission, District 6. <br />M/S/C Lothrop and Loeffler. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br />
