Minutes -City of San Leandro City Council and Page 7 <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting -August 3, 1998 <br />Van Fellner, 14404 Seagate Drive, addressed the Council, protesting all <br />proposed increases, and said they don't receive the service they are paying for <br />now. <br />Stuart Brown, 15653 Cranbrook Street, addressed the Council and submitted <br />several signatures in protest of the increased fees. He said the information <br />presented tonight explains why the increases aze happening, and it would have <br />been more acceptable, perhaps, had that information been available sooner. He <br />feels the public could have been better informed before this evening's Public <br />Hearing. <br />Norman Stamm, 2488 Harborview Drive, addressed the Council, stating the <br />Council is suffering from the legacy of Ellen Corbett. He feels this Council should <br />change the direction of the City. He objects to all four proposed fee increases. <br />Gladys Rollands, 2361 Marina Boulevard, addressed the Council in opposition <br />to all the proposed increases in fees. <br />Carey Walker, 471 Santa Monica, addressed the Council in opposition to the <br />proposed fee increases and stated he feels this is taxation without representation. <br />Harold Perez, 2052 Nester Court, addressed the Council in opposition to the <br />proposed fees and stated he feels the City should be using monies that are in <br />surplus to pay for this. <br />John Rucker, 232 Lexington Avenue, addressed the Council, protesting the <br />proposed fees, and stated this should be put to a vote of the people. <br />Arturo Lopez, 194 Preda Street, addressed the Council in protest to all the <br />proposed fee increases. <br />Council recessed at 9:05 p.m. to 9:13 p.m. <br />Ellen Geis, 834 Cary Drive, addressed the Council, indicating her support for <br />those persons on staff who have dealt with particular issues relating to garbage <br />pickup at her residence. She indicated they have always been very helpful. She <br />continued by stating her opposition to the proposed fee increases and expressed <br />her concerns regarding the lack of street sweeping on her street. <br />Allan Lindsay-O'Nea1,14162 Outrigger Drive, addressed the Council against <br />all the proposed fees. He indicated the City should consider a hiring freeze, <br />instead. He remazked that the tax increase to the City is a pay cut to the public. <br />He feels the City should cut administrative salaries only. <br />
