Mayor Young asked if the Council would be in favor of scheduling a
discussion regarding Proposition 9 (regarding the electric industry) on an
upcoming Agenda. Although Council Member Lothrop indicated a
willingness to discuss it at a later date, she is not sure there is a need for
Council to take a position. The balance of Council did not indicate an interest
to put the matter on a future Agenda.
Mayor Young then commended the San Leandro Community Theatre for their
Shakespeare Festival and read, for the benefit of the audience, a Proclamation
she signed for visitors coming from Naga, Japan, on August 21, 1998.
Mayor Young further commented on the mural painting efforts taking place
under the bridge of San Leandro Creek and urged Council Members to
participate by painting.
Mayor Young referred all other matters brought forward by the public this
evening, which were not on the Council Agenda, to staff for direct response.
10.
