Minutes -City of San Leandro City Council Meeting Page 17 <br />September 8,1998 <br />S. Report on Closed Session Actions Taken. <br />None <br />7. OPEN FORUM <br />Open Forum is limited to 3 minutes maximum per speaker, 15 minutes total. <br />A. Ed Suchman, 1433b Wiley Street, addressed the Council and announced that <br />Mark McGwire made history this evening by hitting his 62~ home run. He <br />continued by thanking the Council for re-appointing him to the Alameda County <br />Mosquito Abatement District. <br />B. Janet Plankenhorn, 1434 Homans Avenue, addressed the Council and thanked <br />them for her nomination to the Recreation and Parks Commission. She further <br />noted she feels all the school sites should be reviewed regarding traffic circulation <br />and safety by the City Engineer. She expressed concerns regarding traffic on <br />Bancroft in front of the High School. <br />C. Lou Filipovich, 1537b Laverne Drive, addressed the Council, stating the bus <br />loading zones approved are only ashort-term fix. He then went on to comment <br />about the Purchase Agreement for the expansion of the Downtown Parking Area <br />Project and indicated he was told there was a problem with the City outbidding <br />others, and he feels that is not right. <br />D. Carey Walker, 471 Santa Monica, addressed the Council, stating the taxes could <br />be lowered for San Leandro residents if we got rid of City employees who made <br />$500 per day. <br />E. Michele Burnson, 20 Begier, addressed the Council regarding the new bus route <br />from the downtown shopping area and noted there is no shelter by the Mustang <br />Club. She further noted the new 55 and 82 routes need advertising, and there <br />needs to be a bus route to the library. <br />8. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br />A.
