City Council Comments <br />Council Member Glaze commented on a major EBMUD leak on Farnsworth <br />Street, close to Manor, over the weekend. He commented on the cracking of <br />Farnsworth and noted Engineering should take a look at the damage for <br />repairs. <br />2. Council Member Loeffler clarified the distribution of the Park Master Plan with <br />staff and noted that, perhaps, copies should be made available at the school <br />sites as well. <br />Council Member Loeffier continued by commented on the recent Alta Mira <br />Club bench that had been installed and requested further information on <br />previous concerns that had been expressed regarding future maintenance of the <br />Alta Mira Club building. <br />Council Member Loeffier commented that he saw a listing of building permits <br />in the newspaper recently and suggested it might be beneficial to the City to do <br />that on a regular basis. He also noted he would like staff to put a high priority <br />on safety issues and training regarding disasters. <br />3. Council Member Lothrop suggested looking at starting a "Preservation San <br />Leandro" group. <br />Council Member Lothrop announced that the Work Session next week will be <br />at the Marina Community Center. <br />4. Council Member Grant noted the State Office of Historical Preservation and <br />the Port of Oakland as resources that would be worth contacting regarding the <br />future maintenance issue relating to the Alta Mira Club. <br />S. Mayor Young acknowledged Sheldon Gilbert, Deputy Fire Chief, for the <br />recent program instituted to immunize school children at the Fire Station. She <br />noted there were 75 immunizations administrered at the Estudillo Fire Station <br />today, and they will be doing immunizations at the Fire Station on 16~~' <br />Avenue next week. <br />The Mayor continued by commenting that the beginning of a school year is <br />here; and, by the numbers of children enrolled, it is a reminder of how our <br />community is growing with new and vibrant families. She continued by <br />commenting briefly on her attendance at the Alta Mira Club; noted that <br />Galvan, Glaze and Loeffier will be representing the Council at the upcoming <br />Trivia Bee; the recent visitation from dignitaries from Naga, Japan; the <br />upcoming Admission Day Dinner with the Native Sons and Daughters; and the <br />Reading Carnival and Summer Music in the Air Festivities. <br />
