Minutes -City of San Leandro City Council and Page 10 <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting -October 5, 1998 <br />Vice Mayor Galvan concluded his comments by commending Tom Guarino <br />and the Chamber of Commerce for moving the Chambers' Luncheon from <br />Thursday to Friday, kicking offthe Sausage and Suds event. <br />2. Council Member Nardine reported on the Luncheon Friday, also. She noted <br />Vice Mayor Galvan left out the fact that he was honored at the Luncheon with <br />a plaque from the Chamber and the DBA regarding his efforts for a crosswalk. <br />She congratulated Vice Mayor Galvan for his hard work <br />Council Member Nardine continued by reporting on the recent breakfast held <br />for all of the past elected officials, noting it was very nice and well received. <br />Council Member Nardine concluded by reporting on the recent Youth <br />Volunteer Recognition at the Boys and Girls Club. <br />Council Member Loeffler acknowledged that some of the Council Members <br />were out of town for the last few days, attending the League of California <br />Cities Conference in Long Beach. He reported on the sessions he attended and <br />pointed out that he was on a panel regarding Collaboratives for counties, cities, <br />and school districts. He thanked Kenton Jang for his help in putting together <br />his presentation, noting it was very successful. <br />Council Member Loeffler also noted some confusion raised regarding <br />attendance by Commissioners at the conference. He apologized for the <br />confusion and suggested the Council consider a budget for each Commission <br />so there is no confusion in the future. <br />Council Member Loeffler concluded his comments by noting that he attended a <br />seminar on budgets and will be providing Council with a book he received <br />regarding 220 questions to ask. <br />4. Council Member Lothrop congratulated the Downtown Business Association <br />on the very successful Sausage and Suds Festival; congratulated Vice Mayor <br />Galvan on his efforts; and noted, with regret, a Memorial Service she attended <br />over the weekend for Jose Corral of the Marina Faire area. She noted Mr. <br />Corral passed away of a heart attack and expressed sympathy to his wife, <br />Gloria, and his daughters. <br />5. Mayor Young acknowledged Vice Mayor Galvan's request for recognizing <br />Lenny Williams and asked that he remind her to do a Resolution. She <br />continued by thanking Vice Mayor Galvan for acting on her behalf in her <br />absence while she was at the League of California Cities Conference. She also <br />thanked Council Member Loeffler for giving a short report on the Council's <br />attendance at the Conference. She added that San Leandro's budget was a top <br />vote getter for the manner in which it is put together. <br />
