PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Public Comments are limited to 5 minutes per person, for a total time period of one <br />hour. When you address the City Council ,you should fill out a speaker card and <br />submit it to the City Clerk so the order of speakers may be determined and an official <br />record of name and addresses obtained. The public is invited to make any comments <br />related to Agenda items, or other items of public interest, at this time. <br />A. Denise Bownds Kaplan, 1400 Carpentier Street, addressed the Council as the <br />Chair of the Library-Historical Commission and noted they are here tonight to <br />encourage the Council to favorably consider the proposed bond issue for the <br />renovation of the library. She expressed their on-going support of the project and <br />their commitment to raise funds for the project, along with the Friends of the <br />Library, for enhancements to the library. <br />B. Laverne Anderson, 1495 - 159` Avenue, addressed the Council and personally <br />thanked the City Manager for answering his questions regarding Cypress Street. <br />He also commented on Fairway Drive and repairs done by East Bay MUD. With <br />regard to the railroad tracks, he noted the work is rougher now than it was before. <br />He was told by Engineering it would wear down and even out with trains as they <br />continue to pass over it. He questioned how the spur track will get worn down. <br />The City Manager gave a brief overview of the repairs to be done and the phasing <br />of such. <br />C. Jane Davis, 1333 Glen Drive, a longtime library patron, addressed the Council <br />and encouraged support of getting the renovation of the library done in a timely <br />manner. She noted the temporary library site is not a good long-term solution. <br />She expressed concerns with bus service and accessibility to the temporary library. <br />Many of the special programs have been suspended during the renovation/ <br />retrofitting period. She feels as though the "community center" is missing. She <br />concluded by encouraging the Council to move forward quickly on the decision to <br />move forward. <br />D. Harold Perez, 2052 Vestal Court, addressed the Council regarding airplanes. He <br />mentioned that Council Member Lothrop was at the last meeting and expressed <br />concern that San Leandro's Mayor was not there. He noted the airplane noise is <br />getting worse. There is no time limit on what time the planes go in and out. He <br />also voiced concern with Davis Street and the pedestrian crossing from Warden <br />Avenue to Timothy Street. <br />
