Dana Johnson, 343 Farrelly, addressed the Council regarding the previous
Public Hearing and how that Applicant was not treated fairly regarding the
proposal for his property, noting he was unfairly questioned about ADA
requirements. He further expressed concerns with the proposed changes in the
refuse service operation. He expressed concern with refuse workers and the lack
of economic efficiency as they relate to industrial and corporate services. He feels
the residents are being punished, especially senior citizens, who will not be able to
bring their garbage out to the curb on a rainy day. He hopes some people who
have business savvy will serve on the proposed committee to review this issue.
C. Laverne Anderson, Vice President of Hope Lutheran Church, addressed the
Council and thanked them for staffs speedy assistance with the removal of graffiti
from their fence. He noted he appreciates what is being done.
D. Carey Walker, 471 Santa Monica, addressed the Council in agreement with Mr.
Filipovich. He does not think they should have to fill out a Speaker Card to talk.
He also voiced concerns with traffic throughout San Leandro. He noted the City
has no traffic control. He feels if traffic laws are enforced Measure I would not
have to be placed back on the ballot.
Regarding the railroad tracks on Merced, staff indicated they do not feel they need
to be fixed. Mr. Walker feels they should be fined. He would like the names of
the City staff involved with the railroad-track repairs.
6. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS AND COMl~~NTS
A.
