Hollister <br />City Manager <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING A CONTRACTUAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH <br />APPLIED MATERIALS & ENGINEERING, INC., RELATING TO THE BAY TRAIL <br />SLOUGH BRIDGE PROJECT, PROJECT NO. 08-144-39-012, FEDERAL AID PROJECT NO. <br />HP21 L-5041(025). <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends approval of a contractual services agreement with Applied Materials & <br />Engineering, Inc. (AME), in the amount of $36,398 to provide `Special Inspection' services for <br />the subject project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Bay Trail Slough Bridge project consists of a 4-span, 350' long pedestrian bridge across the <br />San Leandro Slough and 600' of connecting trail constructed by widening an existing levee. The <br />project will close a major gap in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Trail. The City <br />recently awarded the contract for construction to RGW Construction, Inc. Construction will <br />commence in July 2009. <br />Analysis <br />Special inspection services for material and construction testing of critical structural components <br />are required. Applied Materials & Engineering (AME) is on the City Building Department's list <br />of approved special inspection firms and was selected because of its satisfactory performance on <br />previous City projects including: the San Leandro History Museum; Washington Manor Pool; <br />and Washington Manor Library. <br />
