With no objection from Councilmember Reed, Chairperson <br />Souza agreed to the request. <br />1. Discussion Regarding Davis Street Widening and I-880 High Occupancy (HOV) Lane <br />Project <br />Keith Cooke gave a PowerPoint presentation regarding the Davis Street Widening and I-880 <br />High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lane projects. He was joined by outside presenters Matt Todd <br />from the Alameda County Congestion Agency (ACCMA) and Tim Lee from WMH Corporation. <br />Keith began by listing the various agencies that will work together on this project. The I-880 <br />HOV Lane Project Team includes ACCMA, Rajappan & Meyers, WMH Corporation and BKF <br />Engineers. The Davis Widening team includes Alameda County Transportation Improvement <br />Authority (ACTIA) and BKF Engineers. <br />The original objectives of the Westgate and Davis Street widening project are to improve traffic <br />flow on Davis Street and to provide an alternative north/south route between I-880 and Doolittle <br />Drive. The project has provided a southern access to Westgate Shopping Center thereby <br />reducing cut through traffic on Timothy Drive. This project began in 1995 with the Westgate <br />Parkway Extension project. The Williams Street connection was completed in 2006. In October <br />2007 a neighborhood meeting was held to survey residents about a possible Davis Street <br />connection. At that time, residents of the area opposed the idea. Recently, a Project Study <br />
