Murrell, <br />Sabrina Almazan, Micki Cronin, Kathy Ornelas, Richard Beckett <br />The meeting was called to order at 4:03 p.m. <br />Mayor Santos suggested a change in format to allow for Public Comments after each agenda <br />item and not wait until after the meeting; the Committee agreed. <br />1. Discussion Regarding Farrelly Pool Information and Options <br />Recreation and Human Services Director Knudtson provided a comparison of swim lessons and <br />recreational swim fees between the City of San Leandro and neighboring public and private <br />agencies and provided details as to why Farrelly Pool was chosen as the facility to close. The <br />Committee discussed various options with Director Knudtson on the possibility of keeping the <br />pool open. Knudtson stated that unless she made cuts to other programs, e.g. Park Ranger, the <br />only option would be to increase fees. Knudtson also stated that for all fairness, fees should be <br />increased at all pool facilities. There was discussion of allowing Farrelly Pool to remain open <br />with reduced hours for the summer season. Mayor Santos stated the future of Farrelly Pool will <br />be dependent on the revenue intake. It was suggested to increase the entry fee for all pools; $5 <br />per person at Farrelly and Boys and Girls Club pools, and $7 at the San Leandro Aquatic Center. <br />Public Comment <br />Richard Beckett inquired about forming a Friends of Farrelly Pool or offer Family Memberships, <br />as well as asking vendors for contributions. Director Knudtson could not provide figures on how <br />this could or if it would generate enough revenue to maintain the pool. Carol Fitzpatrick stated <br />1 <br />
