City and San Leandro Unified School District Liaison Committee <br />May 21, 2009 <br />Page 4 <br />Board Member Mack-Rose thanked the City for negotiating with ACI on school solid waste <br />pick-up. <br />Board Member Sullivan thanked the committee for welcoming her to the meeting. <br />Councilmember Reed commented that the Jefferson Elementary School's Solstice Festival <br />conflicts with the Cherry Festival date of June 6 and asked the District if it would have a booth at <br />the Cherry Festival. Superintendent Lim said the District decided not to have a booth at the <br />Cherry Festival this year. <br />Mayor Santos shared information about the City of Emeryville's new campus idea. He also <br />reported that he does visit a number of District schools and receives many requests from <br />students. He is also working with Senator Barbara Boxer's office on the At Risk Kids Program. <br />Councilmember Reed stated that the only school that sends a newsletter to the City Council is <br />Garfield Elementary School, and she would like to know if other District schools distribute <br />newsletters. Board Chair Katz-Lacabe stated that most school newsletters are sent electronically. <br />City Manager Hollister stated he would handle the logistics in getting the City Council email <br />addresses to the District for newsletter distribution. <br />Superintendent Lim announced a ribbon cutting ceremony will be on June 1 for the eminent <br />domain District parking lot, in which the City played a key role in acquiring. <br />6. Public Comments <br />None. <br />7. Adjournment <br />There being no further business, District Board Chair Katz-Lacabe adjourned the meeting at <br />5:23 p.m. <br />
