C REEKSIDE
ASSOCIATES
June 8, 2009
Chair Tom Dlugosh
Members of the San Leandro Planning Commission
And Planning Commissioners
835 East 14th Street
San Leandro, CA 94577
RE: San Leandro Crossings -- The Cornerstone and BART Parking Garage
Dear Mayor Chair Dlugosh and Member of the Planning Commission:
As the property owner of the Creekside Plaza Office Complex at the corner of Davis Street and
San Leandro Boulevard, I am writing to once again voice our strong support of the San Leandro
Crossings project. We believe that project has been designed to embrace the City's vision in the Transit
Oriented Development Strategy and will greatly enhance the Downtown/ BART area.
The Creekside Plaza Office Complex, Downtown San Leandro's first Class A office development
was opened in Spring 2002 and is occupied by a number of important companies including, TriNet, a San
Leandro based employer services provider. The final phase of The Creekside Plaza, an 85,000 square
foot building, is currently under construction. The companies currently located there and the new
companies that will occupy the new building greatly benefit from the proximity to the BART station and
the shops and services in the Downtown. But more is needed for this new neighborhood to transition to
the vibrant, pedestrian oriented community envisioned in the City's Transit Oriented Strategy. We
believe that the San Leandro Crossings project will greatly enhance the area near our building and will be
an important catalyst that will attract other investments in the TOD Area.
The San Leandro Crossings project could provide much needed housing for the employees in our
buildings. The housing will be within walking distance of our building and will allow some of those
employees to enjoy the benefits of walking to work. The street improvements proposed by the project
will enhance the pedestrian and bicycle paths in the area making it safer and more pleasant for walking
and biking. We also believe that the new residents of San Leandro Crossings will create a demand for
new businesses and increase business for existing Downtown shops.
The City has created an extraordinary plan for the TOD area and we believe that the San Leandro
Crossings project will help the City to achieve its goal of creating a great new downtown neighborhood.
We look forward to having the Crossings as our new neighbor and strongly encourage the Planning
Commission to approve it.
Sincerely,
David Inner1/
r
2656 BridGeway • Sausalito, California 94965 w 415 332-6250 • FAX T15 332-5477
