Councilmember Prola indicated that he would like to have ACI provide collection <br />service to the District as part of the new contract. <br />On May 21, 2009, at the City and San Leandro Unified School District Liaison Committee <br />meeting, the City Manager gave a brief update on negotiations between the City and ACI to <br />provide free service to the District. The agreement will allow the District to reduce operating costs and will <br />ensure that the City and the District become partners in waste reduction and recycling programs <br />at school facilities. The services will be provided by ACI without additional rate increases to <br />customers by extending the Franchise Agreement for Solid Waste, Recyclables and Green Waste <br />collection for up to five (5) additional years. <br />
