+ Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 4 -
Redevelopment Agency Meeting - January 21, 1997
Mayor Corbett thanked him on behalf of the Council. Council Member
Young encouraged the Council Members to attend a YAC meeting.
C. Nat Kleinstein, 1662 Sagewood Drive, commented on the Marina boat harbor
debt and dredging project. He suggested the City set aside $800,000
each year to pay for future dredging and that the harbor may need to be
closed down if the City cannot afford the costs. He asked that the
subsidy issue be brought to a community vote. He asked about the costs
if Alcatraz cannot be used.
Mayor Corbett commented on the on-going goal of making the Marina self-
sufficient by finding new uses and businesses to bring in the needed
revenue.
Interim Assistant City Manager John Jermanis provided additional
information regarding costs of the dredging project.
Council Member Loeffler said he appreciated the concept of taking the
issue to a vote of the community. He asked that new Council Members be
given copies of the former Marina charrett.
D. Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, commented on Proposition 218 and
future projects. He said Minutes were not done for the Work Session on
January 13, 1997. He commented on the Economic Development Strategy
presentation and asked for a list of consultants used in 1995.
5. CONSENT CALENDAR
Consent Calendar items are typically routine in nature and are considered
for approval by the City Council with one single action. The City Council
may remove items from the Consent Calendar for purposes of discussion.
Items listed on the Consent Calendar are deemed to have been read by title.
The Consent Calendar was approved as follows:
M/S/C Glaze and Galvan.
