::' <br />~~ <br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council, Page - 9 - <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency, and San Leandro <br />Economic Development Agency Joint Meeting - April 7, 1997 <br />3. Vice Mayor Polvorosa noted Ann Dean's dedication to the area and <br />remembered the annual Easter Egg Hunt. <br />Vice Mayor Polvorosa said he had attended the Toastmaster's Golden <br />Anniversary event. <br />Vice Mayor Polvorosa commented on the enthusiasm shown by the <br />Downtown Business Association; he said the same is occurring within <br />the North Area Business Associations. <br />4. Council Member Young proposed that the Business Walk event be shared <br />with the Chamber of Commerce. She asked that she make a presentation <br />to the Chamber to initiate the discussion. <br />There was Council consensus to take the issue to the Chamber Board of <br />Directors for discussion. <br />Mayor Corbett acknowledged Council Member Young for the initial idea <br />of the Business Walk. <br />Council Member Young suggested a letter be sent to Assemblyman <br />Sweeney in support of SB 1310, pertaining to local revenue and State <br />taxes. Mayor Corbett noted she would check to see if a letter had <br />already been sent. <br />Council Member Young complimented staff on the CUPA certification and <br />the letter received from the State Controller's Office. <br />5. Mayor Corbett noted the upcoming Trivia Bee event. The team will <br />consist of Council Members Loeffler, Galvan, and Young. <br />6. Council Member Galvan wished Craig Anderson well in his new <br />endeavors. <br />Council Member Galvan complimented Verda McMullen, DECA teacher, on <br />her work with the students. <br />Council Member Galvan thanked the DBA for the Downtown Cleanup Day. <br />7. Council Member Lothrop said she would like to organize a tour of her <br />District for staff and Council Members. <br />Mayor Corbett noted that this may be a catalyst for neighborhood <br />councils and events and to have this be available for all Council <br />Districts. She offered to talk with other cities with similar <br />programs, such as Dayton, Ohio, and Fort Wayne, Indiana. <br />Council Member Loeffler commented on the Little Rock, Arkansas, <br />program. <br />8. Mayor Corbett said Linda Granger should also be acknowledged for her <br />work with students at the High School. <br />
