Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council, Page - 4 - <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency, and San Leandro <br />Economic Development Agency Joint Meeting - April 21, 1997 <br />F. Rick Richards, 335 Peralta Avenue, thanked the Council for attending the <br />Creek Festival. He said a mural design has been chosen and the Daily <br />Review is now supporting the project. He announced the upcoming Creek <br />Clean Up on May 17th. <br />G. Bob Harris presented <br />World Boxing Hall of <br />boxer. <br />Mayor Corbett thanked <br />for his contribution <br />become members of the <br />Mayor Corbett with a Presidential Award from the <br />Fame. He introduced Johnny Gonsalves, former pro <br />them for the award and recognized Mr. Gonsalves <br />to boxing. Mr. Harris invited the Council to <br />"Hall of Shame" Club. <br />H. Waffah Rashid, 672 Tudor Road, said a Davis West Neighborhood Group had <br />been formed. She commented on the number of noise monitors. She said <br />helicopters are flying too low, specifically KGO and Channel 7. She <br />supports a Quiet Hours ordinance and asked that the City get involved in <br />the issue. She said the light at Davis West and Warden Avenue is too <br />slow. <br />I. Harry Mitchell, 634 Tudor Road, commented on the loud noise from the <br />airport. He said the airport committed to place a noise monitor in <br />their neighborhood. He asked if an agreement existed with Shane <br />Trucking regarding noise after 10 p.m. Council Member Lothrop asked to <br />be placed on the mailing list of the neighborhood group. <br />J. Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, commented on the new payroll <br />classification, the number of Chinese restaurants in town, tax exempt <br />bond financing, the loan to Latte Da, and the ordinance pertaining to <br />lying on sidewalks. <br />K. Harold Perez, 2052 Yestal Court, said the noise from the airport is bad. <br />He said there is a report from Castro Valley linking cancer deaths in <br />the neighborhood. <br />L. Mason Rashid, 705 Tudor Road, said the Davis West neighborhood is upset <br />about noise from the airport, and he is asking for leadership from the <br />Council. He said there is a disparity between Alameda and San Leandro. <br />He supports a noise ordinance. Mayor Corbett said it was not fair that <br />one community can transfer noise to another. <br />M. Mr. Herdt, 716 Warden Avenue, said he had shown Council Member Lothrop <br />the locations of the noise monitors. He said Easter weekend was <br />especially bad regarding noise levels. <br />N. Francois Gallo, said the noise affects other neighborhoods besides the <br />Davis West neighborhood. He commented on the location of the noise <br />monitors. <br />A five-minute break was announced at 8:45 p.m. <br />The meeting reconvened at 8:50 p.m. <br />
