Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council Meeting Page - 7 - June 2, 1997 The following Resolution was then introduced: Resolution No. 97-67, Resolution of the City Council of the Gity of San Leandro in Support of the Reauthorization of the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act [ISTEA], by Congress (endorses efforts by the Alameda County Congestion Management Agency for the extension of ISTEA and funding beyond its expiration on September 30, 1997). (1219/1250) M/S/C Young and Galvan. Ayes: 6; Noes: 0; Absent: Lothrop B. Report on Closed Session Actions Taken. None 7. OPEN FORUM Open Forum is limited to 3 minutes maximum per speaker, 15 minutes total. A. Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, addressed the Council and commended Vice Mayor Loeffler for his efforts to get the citizens involved. He added that the warehouses and businesses we have here have gone down the tubes. Local union membership has been decreasing tremendously. He commented further on intermodal service. Mr. Filipovich then continued by commenting on the San Leandro City News, San Leandro Journal, and the City Parks and Recreation Programs publication, which he feels are not being distributed appropriately. He expressed concerns with the amount of staff time and costs expended on the San Leandro City News publication. B. Laverne Anderson, 1495 - 159th Avenue, addressed the Council, reminding citizens tomorrow is election day; and people should get out and vote on the EMS Measures. He urged everyone to support the two Measures and related a personal story of how paramedic service saved his wife's life. He concluded by commenting on the increasing tendency for persons to run red lights and related a recent experience on East 14th Street. Mayor Corbett encouraged everyone to get out and vote tomorrow and to support both EMS Measures. 8. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS AND COMMENTS A. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies None B.
