Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 14 - San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Special Meeting - June 30, 1997 4. Vice Mayor Loeffler thanked Council Members Young and Lothrop for joining him at the Portuguese Heritage event. Vice Mayor Loeffler also reported on the Brownsfield Hearing at the Library and continued with expressing concerns regarding grocery carts being left throughout the community. He noted that Tom Moran, Lucky Foods, will be meeting with him regarding this issue in the near future. Vice Mayor Loeffler added that he met with members of the Clergy of the Faith Community this week regarding Welfare Reform. Vice Mayor Loeffler continued by commenting on the ABAG Planning Committee for the November Conference, which will be focusing on Education and Government. 5. Council Member Lothrop commented on how she enjoyed the hayride in the parade for the Portuguese community and would like to see staff look at promoting these types of events in some sort of community calendar. Council Member Lothrop reported that she met recently with the Davis West residents regarding noise and noted the noise issue is valid throughout the community. Council Member Lothrop concluded by reporting on the "Day at the Casa" barbecue coming up on July 13, 1997. 6. Mayor Corbett concluded by stating that she will be providing a report on her recent attendance at the Mayors' Conference in San Francisco at a later date. Mayor Corbett noted the Presidential appointment of Saul Ramirez, from the City of Laredo, Texas (Sister City to San Leandro), as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
