Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 13 -
San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Special Meeting - June 30, 1997
Further Council discussion ensued regarding the proposal on the
table, adding that it is only a guideline to help the Council
standardize the process. It would allow for the current Mayor to be
eligible for an increase based upon three years of service.
Council Member Young indicated how hard the Policy Committee had
worked on this policy as a guideline, including criteria to deal with
any Mayor at any time. She is supportive of the policy as a
guideline.
The City Manager pointed out the car allowance aspect of the policy
and noted the Administrative Code would have to be amended to reflect
the flat amount of $375.00 as a car allowance for the Mayor.
It was clarified that the 25% specified was an "up to" amount, and
the increases would not be "assumed" to be 25%.
The following Motion was then introduced:
Minute Order No. 97-32, Matter of Policy Regarding the Mayor's
Salary. (1315)
The City Council approved the proposed policy, which provides for
guidelines for incremental increases after the first year of service
up to 25%, and acknowledges additional ex-officio benefits which have
been historically afforded to the Mayor.
M/S/C Glaze and Young. Ayes: 5; Noes: Polvorosa and Galvan
It was noted that the next Policy Committee Meeting will be on August
11, 1997.
C. City Council Comments
1. Council Member Galvan thanked the Mayor for filling in at the East
Bay Dischargers Authority (EBDA) Meeting for him and noted he will
now be the Chair for that Authority.
2. Council Member Young congratulated the Chamber on their successful
Annual Golf Classic and thanked the Youth Advisory Commission (YAC)
for volunteering at the event.
Council Member Young also reported on the Watershed Awareness Walk.
and congratulated staff on getting the Skateboard Park up and
running.
3. Council Member Glaze thanked Council Member Young and noted that she
was the honorary Chair of the Chamber Golf Tournament, which was a
great event. He, in closing, noted the passing of Ted Lastiri and
asked that the meeting be adjourned in his memory.
