~•4 <br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 12 - <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Meeting - September 2, 1997 <br />7. OPEN FORUM <br />Open Forum is limited to 3 minutes maximum per speaker, 15 minutes total. <br />A. Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, addressed the Council regarding the <br />D.A.R.E. Programs and schools in San Leandro. He noted the funding <br />strategy wi 11 not be the same as i t was i n the past. He added that <br />Kindergarten through 12th grade has received more funding than they have <br />in their history. He concluded by stating there should be no shortage <br />of money out there for these programs. <br />B. Carey Walker, 471 Santa Monica, addressed the Council, noting in 1991 <br />Mayor Karp was making $2076 per month, and he feels the Mayor now is not <br />making enough. <br />Mr. Walker questioned Council Members Galvan and Polvorosa and asked if <br />they ever followed through or considered a traffic light in front of <br />Mission Bay Mobile Home Park. He then asked if Council Member Galvan <br />ever followed through on forming a Rent Stabilization Board. <br />Council Member Galvan responded that there had been several meetings <br />about the contract which the people in Mission Bay Mobile Home Park <br />overwhelmingly supported. He noted that, if the people in Mission Bay <br />Mobile Home Park want a rent control ordinance, rent stabilization, or <br />a contract - he will be supportive of that. He summarized and stated <br />that the people of Mission Bay Mobile Home Park overwhelmingly supported <br />a contract. <br />Council Member Polvorosa also commented that they had met with the <br />people of Mission Bay Mobile Home Park, and they were supportive of <br />working it out with a contract and not to pursue a rent-control <br />ordinance or rent stabilization at that time. <br />8. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br />A. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies <br />Council Member Galvan reported that he just received a letter from the <br />Castro Valley Sanitary District, asking for mitigation regarding the <br />LAVWMA expansion project. He suggested a Work Session be scheduled to <br />discuss this issue. Council was supportive of scheduling the Work <br />Session when feasible. <br />B. Reports on City Council Subcommittees <br />None <br />
