<br />~~ Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 13 - <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Meeting - September 2, 1997 <br />C. City Council Comments <br />A. Council Member Young reminded the Council of the upcoming Business <br />Walk which will take place this Friday, September 5, 1997, from 9:00 <br />a.m. to 12:00 noon. She then congratulated and thanked Dan Gray for <br />his efforts regarding the Trader Joe's meetings. <br />B. Council Member Polvorosa thanked and commended the Police Chief for <br />his 30 years of public service to the community. <br />C. Council Member Glaze asked for Council concurrence to go forward with <br />having staff look into an ordinance to allow pot-bellied pigs in the <br />c;ty of San Leandro. He asked that any enforcement actions in <br />process be suspended until Council has the opportunity to discuss an <br />ordinance. <br />There was consensus of the City Council to have staff look into an <br />ordinance to allow pot-bellied pigs in the City of San Leandro and to <br />suspend enforcement actions until Council has an opportunity to <br />discuss a proposed ordinance. <br />Council Member Glaze also commented briefly on the recent bowling <br />event at Manor Bowl for the youth volunteers. He thanked those <br />Council Members who participated and concluded by stating that it was <br />fun for everyone involved. <br />D. Vice Mayor Loeffler acknowledged the Summer Reading Program and <br />commented on how wonderful the Carnival was. He then asked that <br />Council have staff review the proposed AB 1191 legislation, regarding <br />red-light running. He indicated the proposal would include a <br />provision for monies to be returned to the cities where the ticket is <br />written. <br />E. Council Member Lothrop also commented on the Summer Reading Program <br />and commended the staff involved. She expressed concerns about where <br />the event will be held next year in light of the library retrofit. <br />Council Member Lothrop also commented on the recent Bowling Event for <br />Volunteers and noted the young people who participated were really <br />great. <br />Council Member Lothrop concluded by noting on September 9, 1997, the <br />Council and Department Heads will be taking a tour of District 6; <br />and, on September 23, 1997, there will be a Neighborhood Meeting <br />regarding Public Safety. <br />F. Council Member Young added that, on September 16, 1997, there will be <br />a District 2 Neighborhood Focus Meeting on Public Safety, as well. <br />There will be representatives from the San Leandro Police Department, <br />BART Police, and Alameda County Fire Department personnel in <br />attendance. She further noted that flyers will be distributed <br />through Jefferson School. She invited any interested Council Members <br />to attend. <br />
