Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council Meeting
September 15, 1997
Page - 11 -
Council Member Lothrop further commented on the information
Council had received regarding the Walmart application for a
lot-line adjustment. It was noted it is important to her that
staff keep Council apprised of the process. She would like to
see the issue come before the Council at some point in order to
be able to discuss it in public.
The City Attorney noted the issue would only come to the
Council if it is appealed. It would not come to the Council if
it is not appealed.
6. Mayor Corbett commented on the positive results of the recent
Business Walk and was informed there is no analysis of the data
as of yet. She added what a wonderful, positive experience it
was and thanked Council Member Young, along with staff and the
Chamber, for their efforts. She continued by thanking Council
Member Lothrop for the enlightening Tour of District 6.
The Mayor reported on the recent Heart Walk and the Farmers'
Market, which appears to be decreasing in foot traffic and
number of vendors. She asked staff to look into and report
back on this trend at the Farmers' Market.
Mayor Corbett also reported on the Ribbon Cutting at the
Mission Bell Apartments; the Essay/Poster Contest for the
City's 125th Anniversary, which took place earlier this
evening; and concluded by reporting on a ride-a-long she did
with the Police Department on bicycle. She noted that
identifying persons riding without helmets is at the top of
their priority list when patrolling by bicycle.
The Mayor indicated she is passing out a memorandum listing
several events that will be happening this coming week and
weekend and encouraged the Council to represent her in her and
Council Member Loeffler's absence. She asked that, if any
Council Members are able to attend any of the events listed,
please contact Denice.
