have looked at, at this juncture, in terms of mitigation -whereas Hayward has focused <br />on some traffic related issues. So, we will have an opportunity this evening to kind of <br />bring everybody up to speed and some of the history that has gone on with, even, <br />agencies that have existed before LAVWMA was created. Former Mayor Faria talked <br />about the Tri-Water Authority -there are a number of things that have come and gone, <br />but we want to make sure we're clear, at least this evening, as to where we aze right at <br />this point and where we need to go from here. <br />Bob Taylor: I'm legal this time. Thank you. I enjoy being back and this is the first <br />time I have been back in the Council Chambers since it has been renovated and old City <br />Hall - it's a beautiful structure and it's been very well done -very impressive. The <br />purpose tonight is to compile ten years of history in about 10 seconds. As you know, <br />I used to talk quite a bit when it came to wastewater and garbage -that's my thing. But, <br />I' m going to keep it much shorter tonight. I think that most of the salient points aze in <br />the staff report that was given to you. The historical basis, I think is probably the mast <br />important element that needs to be covered tonight. Some of the questions that have <br />come up -rather than try to direct specific responses to each one, I'd kind of like to go <br />back and give an overview of how we got where we are today. It was correct that <br />originally they came to EBDA and EBDA was not interested. Then they went to East <br />Bay....when I say "they," I mean LAVWMA, then they contacted East Bay MUD and <br />East Bay MUD had some capacity that they could have made available before treating <br />of sewage. They proposed a project that would construct a pipeline from the LAVWMA <br />facility out in Livermore Valley that would have come through San Leandro.
