Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 6 -
San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Meeting - December 15, 1997
C. Steven Grossman, Director of Aviation, Port of Oakland, addressed the
Council and submitted a letter of response to the Council's resolution
of seven mitigation measures. He went through each mitigation item in
the letter and asked the Council to continue working with them to
resolve the concerns.
D. Laverne Anderson, 1495 - 159th Avenue, addressed the Council on behalf
of the Women's Auxiliary, the American Legion, Disabled Veterans, and,
especially Veterans of Foreign Wars of the 14th District. He thanked
staff for the refreshments that were served the morning of the Veterans'
Day Parade. He noted they did a first-class job. He thanked the
Council Members who were able to attend the Bonaire Civic League Dinner.
He concluded by stating speeding is a nationwide problem, not just here
in San Leandro.
E. Amy Allen Pinkle, 764 Rodney, addressed the Council regarding speeding
on her street. She stated she hopes the new guidelines for speed humps
will allow them to be placed on her street.
F. Tom Guarino, Chief Executive Officer, San Leandro Chamber of Commerce,
addressed the Council, commenting on how pretty East 14th Street looks
with all the lights. He noted that he was pleased to see Mr. Grossman's
response to the mitigation measures posed by San Leandro. He concluded
by giving advance congratulations to Odeter Waters for her appointment
to the Human Resources Commission.
G. Patty Fee, 695 Martin Boulevard, addressed the Council and thanked them
for the stop sign on Davis and Martin. She commented that Rodney is a
street people speed on; and, if they place speed humps on that street,
they should be the "teeth jarring" kind.
H. Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, addressed the Council regarding the
CDBG Block Grant Citizen Participation Plan and suggested we get someone
on the committee that will do something for senior citizens. Regarding
the elections items on the Agenda under New Business, he questioned if
the regulations for the candidate statements are making the statement
mandatory. If so, he would not be supportive, as a candidate should
have the opportunity to place their name on a ballot without a cost
associated with it.
I. John Davis, 687 Durant, addressed the Council in support of the proposed
guidelines for the speed humps.
