EBMUD requests that the City provide a detailed description of the expected reduction in
potable water demand for each proposed customer for the Project, As discussed earlier,
EBMUD has an aggressive recycled water program in place to meet the future needs of
its customers. Any projected savings in EBMUD potable water resulting from
implementation of the proposed Project would help EBMUD meet its water recycling
goal of 14 MGD by the year 2020.
Discussion
Monarch Bay Golf Complex irrigation is currently supplied by groundwater blended with potable water
when salinity is too high. Additionally, the entire course is imgated (flushed} with potable water on
occasion. The greens are irrigated with potable water. The golf course operators will try to use recycled
water for the greens; the results will determine the extent to which demand for potable water is offset by
recycled water. (For planning purposes, the City assumed that some reclaimed water [4 million gallons per
year] would be used on greens.). For Phase lb, Marina Park, all potable water use will be replaced with
recycled watex. Total potable water savings would equal approximately 35 million gallons per year.
Issues Raised in California Fish and Game comment letter
Comments on Environmental Filing Fee
The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) has reviewed the document for the subject
project.
