POLICIES AND ACTIONS <br />PROGRESS <br />Action 57.02-A: Allowing Senior Householders to "Age in Place" <br />Continue programs (including loans and/or grants) which allow seniors to "age in <br />place " by retrofitting their horses with grab bars, wheelchair ramps, and other assistive <br />devices which respond to the decreased mobility of elderly householders. <br />Policy 57.03 RESIDENTIAL CARE FACILITIES <br />Support the development of affordable licensed <br />residential care facilities for seniors, the disabled, <br />persons with AIDS, and others requiring <br />assistance in day-to-day living. <br />The Community Development <br />Department processes applications <br />for these types of facilities when <br />submitted and provides technical <br />assistance in the form of permit <br />processing and building code review <br />to ensure facilities meet minimum <br />health and safety standards. <br />Action 57.03 - A: The City <br />continues to support legislation that <br />would count congregate care <br />facilities towards a jurisdiction's Fair <br />Share Housing production <br />assignment. <br />Actian 57.03 A: Congregate Care Facilities <br />Support state legislation which would count congregate care facilities toward a <br />community's fulfillment of its fair share housing assignment. <br />Policy 57.04 OUTREACH TO SENIORS <br />Produce educational and promotional materials <br />about housing options for seniors living alone in <br />larger single family homes, and explore <br />incentives and/or assistance programs for seniors <br />interested in selling their homes and relocating to <br />smaller dwellings within San Leandro. <br />The Recreation and Human Services <br />Department provides a wide range of <br />senior services, while the Housing <br />Services Division also provides <br />materials regarding available housing <br />programs. <br />Year 2004 Annual Housing Progress Report 38 City Of San Leandro <br />
