POLICIES AND ACTIONS <br />Policy 57.06 BARRIER-FREE DESIGN <br />Promote accessibility in design for persons with <br />physical disabilities. Also, promote the inclusion <br />of units that are set aside for persons with <br />disabilities within larger affordable housing <br />developments. <br />PROGRESS <br />The City works on a daily basis to <br />consider housing types and <br />appropriate design for person with <br />disabilities and conducts building <br />plan checks to ensure compliance <br />with the Americans with Disabilities <br />Act. <br />Anew 16-unit housing development <br />(Fuller GardensBden Housing <br />developer) for the developmentally <br />disabled was recently completed. <br />Action 57.06 - A: The City <br />continues to work on a project-by- <br />projectbasis to review housing <br />proposals, especially affordable <br />projects and those contained in <br />mixed use developments to <br />determine the feasibility of providing <br />units to serve the developmentally <br />disabled. <br />The City also works on a day-by-day <br />basis to consider use of CDBG and <br />Redevelopment Set Aside funds in <br />terms of how these funds can best be <br />used to serve the wide range of <br />housing demands including those of <br />the developmentally disabled. <br />Year 2004 Annuat Housiizg Progress Repo°t 40 City Of San Leandro <br />
