POTENTIALLY
ISSUES POTENTIALLY SIGNIFICANT LESS THAN NO
SIGNIFICANT UNLESS SIGNIFICANT 11.1PACT SOURCES
ISSUES A1ITIGATION I)\1PACT
INCORPORATED
13. RECREATION.
a. Would the project increase the use of existing
neighborhood and regional parks or other X 2
recreational facilities such that substantial
physical deterioration of the facility would
occur or be accelerated?
b. Does the project include recreational facilities
or require the construction or expansion of X 2
recreational facilities which might have an
adverse hysical effect on the environment?
EXPLANATION: Given the lack of residential uses associated with the project, and the small amount of office development, there
are no antici ated im acts on existing neighborhood and re Tonal arks/facilities.
14. AESTHETICS. Would the ro'ect: -
a. Have a substantial adverse effect on a scenic X 2
vista?
b. Substantially damage scenic resources,
urcluding, but not limited to, trees, rock X 2
outcroppings, and historic buildings within a
state scelic hi hway?
c. Substantially degrade the existing visual
character or quality of the site and its X ~
sun-oundin s?
d. Create a new source of substantial light or
glare which would adversely affect day or X 2
ni httime views in the area?
e. Create siglrificaut shadow effects on adjacent
buildin s? X 2
EXPLANATION: The proposed project, which consists of the construction of two small two-story office buildings, totaling 9,518
square feet, on a total of approximately 0.46 acres, is not anticipated to result in significant aesthetic impacts. The project site is
located along a major thoroughfare (Davis Street) and is also across the street from atwo-story office building. Therefore,
implementation of the proposed project is not anticipated to substantially degrade the existing visual character or quality of the site
and its sulTOUndings. The project site is not considered scenic and therefore no impacts are anticipated. Although the project site was
previously developed, typical street lights and indoor lighting of the buildings would increase the amount of light emanating from
the project site. However, standard conditions of approval, which require that lighting be designed so that no light spills off-site,
would reduce this potentially significant impact to a level of insignificance. The building that will be sited nearest the northwest
property line (backing up to the existing residential neighborhood on Dabner Street) will have a 10-foot setback. This should
provide adequate privacy to the existing residence. The project has been designed ~~ith adequate setbacks such that no significant
shadow effects on adjacent buildings are anticipated.
15. CULTURAL RESOURCES.' Would the ro'ect:
a. Cause a substantial adverse change in the
siglificance of a historical resource as defined X I
ui section 15064.5?
b. Cause a substantial adverse change in the
significance of an archaeological resource X 1
ursuant to section 15064.5?
c. Directly or indirectly destroy a unique
paleontological resource or site or unique X 1
geolo is feature?
d. Disturb any human remains, including those
inten-ed outside of formal cemeteries? X I
1016-1052 Davis/ PLN2004-00031 -Initial Study Checklist I 1 Apri12004
