Leandro, which has been identified by the United Way as having disproportionate levels of <br />poverty, increasing immigrant families and high Free and Reduced Meal (FRM) counts. <br />Davis Street's mission to serve those with the most need and the least access manifests itself <br />through the provision of a comprehensive array of family support services (most) under one roof <br />and include: quality, affordable childcare for nearly 1,000 children ages 0-11; employment <br />training and job placement through its countywide "workforce development" collaborative <br />(formerly known as San Leandro Works) to over 300 Calworks eligible clients; mental health <br />program focusing on "at-risk" populations to deliver-substance abuse intervention and <br />prevention, domestic violence as well as work with the perpetrator in the relationship in order to <br />break the cycle to hundreds of client each month; basic needs such as food, clothing and utility <br />assistance to nearly 800 families each month and finally free acute medical care to about 100 <br />patients each month. All these services are provided at the Family Resource Center and at the <br />four licensed childcare centers in San Leandro. <br />DSFRC routinely administers State, City and County grants and contracts and is well qualified to <br />provide comprehensive anti-violence programs to at-risk youth. <br />Program Team <br />All programs and services relating to anti-violence at-risk youth will be overseen by the <br />Executive Director, Rose Padilla Johnson and directly managed by Dr. Carole McKinley Alvarez <br />in addition to the mental health specialists and family advocates. All new and existing efforts <br />will be coordinated through the City's Recreation and Human Resource Department. <br />Funding <br />This agreement will provide funding in the amount of $100,000 per year to Davis Street Family <br />Resource Center for the development and support of anti-violence programs for at-risk youth in <br />the coirununity. This initial agreement will cover the period ending June 30, 2005, and is <br />renewable on an annual basis subject to available funding. <br />Consulting Services Agreement between November 1, 2004 <br />City of San Leandro and Davis Street Family Resource Center Page 17 of 19 <br />
