III. Air Quality, continued
III(c): The $ay Area is anon-attainment area for state ozone and PM~o standards and federal ozone standards. The cumulative
effect of the Housing Element on attainment status would be positive. The Housing Element emphasizes the provision of
housing opportunities close to job centers, of transit facilities thereby reducing the need to commute. This would reduce
vehicle miles traveled and associated emissions.
III(d): Some of the housing sites identified in this Element are located along major arterials or are close to industrial and
commercial uses. The potential for air quality impacts would be present if housing was constructed close to sources of carbon
monoxide, PM~o, or other pollutants. Housing is a}ready permitted on these sites, however, and the Housing Element's policies
would not increase the potential fot adverse impacts. Mitigation measures will be prescribed as needed as future projects are
proposed.
IMPACT
WILL THE PROJECT: Less Than
Potentially Significant Less Than
Cumulative Significant With Significant No Source
Impact Mitigation Impact Impact
Incorporation
IV.
