EXHIBIT A <br />SCOPE OF SERVICES <br />The project consists of enhanced curbside parking, new street lighting, corner sidewalk bulb- <br />outs, and shorter pedestrian street crossings. The improvements to be installed are indicated on <br />the plans titled "Alternative `A' 35% Submittal" and modified per the "Alternative `C"' estimate <br />dated April 2003. The improvements included in this scope of work are for MacArthur <br />Boulevard from Durant Avenue to Estudillo Avenue, the entire length of the roadway as <br />indicated in the original conceptual design documents. <br />The work includes pavement reconstruction of MacArthur Boulevard at two intersections, the <br />installation of bulb-outs, selected areas of sidewalk replacement, installation of a completely new <br />high level and pedestrian level lighting system and other improvements indicated on the <br />drawings. <br />This contract allows for the project to be prepared in two separate plans, specifications and <br />estimates (PS&E) packages. <br />General Assumptions <br />• Potholing in the field to locate existing utilities is excluded from the scope of <br />work <br />• Design work for under-grounding of existing overhead power or telephones and <br />relocation of underground utilities is excluded <br />• Any geotechnical investigations that may be needed for pavement design are <br />excluded <br />• All work in AutoCAD will be in English units of measure <br />Preparation of Construction Documents <br />Task 1 Confirmation of Design Elements: The initial work consists of meeting with City <br />staff to confirm the design of materials and finishes. This work will also include the <br />schematic design for the islands at the intersection of Superiox Avenue and <br />MacArthur Boulevard, which were not included in previous studies. <br />Task 2 70% Plans, Specifications and Estimates: At this stage, the details of the design <br />will be developed. Specific top of curb and gutter flowline elevations will be <br />established to ensure drainage, detailing of planters and street furniture will be <br />worked out. Utility conflicts will be identified and, if necessary, utility companies <br />notified of necessary relocation of facilities. Electrical and irrigation line locations <br />will be established. The drawings that will be part of the plan set will include: a title <br />sheet, demolition plan, grading and drainage plans, site plan sheets and profile sheets <br />where needed, utility plans, signing and pavement marking plans, construction <br />details, staging plan, irrigation plans, planting plans, irrigation details, planting <br />details, and electrical plans and details.
