twenty-five (25) years of uninterrupted City service by <br />way of termination, service retirement or resignation in <br />good standing with the City. <br />An employee whose death or permanent disability is a <br />result of an accident which is held to be compensable by <br />the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board will receive <br />payment for unused sick leave without regard to <br />continuous City service according to the seven and one <br />half percent (73�96) formula. An employee who completed <br />twenty-five (25) or more years of uninterrupted service <br />shall receive payment for unused sick leave in accordance <br />with the ten percent (10%) formula as described in the <br />above paragraph. <br />In order for Police Services Aide Administrative <br />Specialist -Police and Dispatcher, to qualify for paid <br />sick leave, notification must be given to the work unit <br />supervisor as soon as is practicable, but at least thirty <br />(30) minutes prior to the start of the regular work day. <br />Waiver of this reporting requirement can be made by the <br />Police Chief only, and only, in specific unusual <br />circumstances. Absence for illness may not be charged to <br />sick leave not already accumulated. <br />Section 9. Maternity Leave <br />Maternity and paternity leave shall be in accordance with <br />applicable State and/or Federal law. <br />Section 10. Funeral Leave <br />In the event of death in the immediate family of an <br />employee, the employee shall, upon request to his/her <br />supervisor, be granted such time off with pay as is <br />necessary to make arrangements for the funeral and attend <br />same, not to exceed a total of five (5) working days. <br />This provision does not apply if the death and/or funeral <br />occurs during the employee's paid vacation, or while the <br />employee is on leave of absence, layoff, sick leave, or <br />any other leave status. Funeral leave for permanent <br />part-time employees shall be on a pro -rated basis. <br />The immediate family of an employee includes wife, <br />husband, child, father, mother, sister, brother, <br />grandparents, mother-in-law, father-in-law, or stepparent <br />where there is a child-rearing relationship. <br />14 <br />
