vacation, holiday, overtime and all other accumulated <br />leave or pay benefits. <br />Upon receiving prior approval, an employee shall be <br />allowed catastrophic leave up to a total of one-half (%) <br />of the accumulated sick leave the employee had when the <br />catastrophic illness occurred to a maximum catastrophic <br />leave of fifty (50) work days; an employee who does not <br />have twenty (20) days' accumulated sick leave at the time <br />the catastrophic illness occurs may be permitted up to <br />ten (10) working days' catastrophic leave. Leave under <br />this section shall become effective after all other paid <br />leave is exhausted. During any period of catastrophic <br />illness leave, the employee shall receive compensation at <br />the rate of sixty percent (60?6) of his/her regular base <br />Pay• <br />A minimum of one (1) year must elapse following the <br />termination of the catastrophic illness leave before an <br />employee may be permitted further catastrophic illness <br />leave. However, if subsequent catastrophic illness <br />occurs within a year following the termination of the <br />previous catastrophic illness leave, an employee may be <br />permitted to use whatever accumulated paid leave he/she <br />has and then whatever catastrophic illness leave he/she <br />was eligible for but did not use. <br />The same principles concerning the administration of the <br />sick leave benefit shall be used for this benefit where <br />applicable. <br />Section 37. Non -Discrimination <br />The City and the Union agree that there shall be no <br />discrimination against any employee because of Union <br />activities or because of race, color, religion, sex, <br />national origin, age, marital status, disability, or <br />sexual orientation defined by applicable Federal and <br />State regulations. <br />Section 38. Water Pollution Control Plant Certification <br />Employees working in a full-time permanent position who <br />are regularly assigned to the Water Pollution Control <br />Plant shall be reimbursed for obtaining or renewing job - <br />required certificates. <br />38 <br />
