Matter of Recommendation to Move Forward in the Planning and Design of a Memorial <br />Commemorating Luster Knight as Outlined in the Letter from the Recreation and Parks <br />Commission to City Council Dated October 7, 2009. <br />• Minute Order No. 2009-040, Motion Approving the Recommendation to Create <br />a Memorial for Luster Knight at Marina Park, as Outlined in the Letter from the <br />Recreation and Parks Commission to City Council Dated October 7, 2009. (1028) <br />The City Council approved the recommendation to create a memorial for <br />Luster Knight at Marina Park, as outlined in the October 7, 20091etter from <br />the Recreation and Parks Commission to the City Council. <br />9. ITEMS REMOVED FROM CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Public comments are limited to 3 minutes per speaker per item, subject to adjustment by the <br />Mayor. <br />8.D. Matter of Process for Determining a Recommendation from the Recreation and Parks <br />Commission to the City Council Regarding the Allocation of Measure WW and Park <br />Development Fee Funds. <br />Councilmember Prola suggested that one of the two community meetings be held at the <br />Main Library, to offer an alternative meeting location for the public. <br />A motion was made by Councilmember Prola, seconded by Councilmernber Stephens, <br />to direct the Recreation and Parks Commission (RAPC) to proceed with the proposed <br />process for obtaining public input on the use of Measure WW and Park Development <br />Fee Funds, as outlined in the Staff Report, except changing the location of the second <br />public workshop to the Main Library. <br />Councilmember Souza. commented that there is no need to rush the process, and <br />emphasized the importance of the Commission's outreach. She expressed an interest in <br />allowing the RAPC a longer timeline than is outlined in the staff report. <br />Mr. Hollister stated that he was contacted by Councilmember Prola, and the Main <br />Library has been reserved for the second meeting. Staff will target February for a report <br />back to the Council. <br />Recreation and Human Services Director Carolyn Knudtson stated that the RAPC <br />would attempt to gather community input during the proposed timeframe. However, if <br />the information received is not meaningful or substantive, the Commission will report <br />that to the Council. <br />Vice Mayor Starosciak complimented Ms. Knudtson on turning the process around so <br />quickly.
