Funding Agreement Between <br />The City of San Leandro <br />and <br />the Alameda County Public Works Agency <br />for the <br />Union Pacific (Oakland Subdivision) Railroad Corridor Improvement Study <br />This Agreement is made and entered into between Alameda County Public Works Agency, a <br />municipal corporatio' ~ ("Co~~ my"), and the City of San Leandro, a local public agency ("CITY") on <br />SECTION I <br />RECITALS: <br />Whereas questions about the future of the Union Pacific Railroad Oakland Subdivision have arisen <br />at multiple levels of government over the past thirty years as freight customers diminish and less <br />freight traffic travels along this rail corridor. <br />Whereas the Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority has provide a portion of the <br />funding to implement the Project and <br />Whereas regional rail planning efforts, City and County elected officials, local government agencies <br />and advocacy groups have all identified the possibility that the Oakland Subdivision might <br />accommodate a range of transportation and community uses and the <br />City and County desire to enter into this Funding Agreement ("Agreement") to implement an <br />eligible project ("Project") to expand and enhance bicycle and pedestrian access, convenience, safety <br />and usage in Alameda County and investigate the feasibility of a regional pedestrian and bicycle <br />pathway along the Union Pacific Railroad Oakland Subdivision. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the parties agree as follows: <br /> <br />'v <br />~i <br />BikePed-Cycle3-A070004-ACPWA-UPRR Page 1 of 12 <br />
