CITY OF SAN LEANDRO STAFF REPORT DATE: December 21, 2009 TO: Stephen Hollister, Ci Manager FROM: Carolyn Knudtsori; erector Recreation and Human Services Department SUBJECT PROJECT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION: APPROVED AND FORWARDED TO CITY COUNCIL Stephen Hollister City Manager RECOMMENDATION FROM THE RECREATION AND PARKS COMMISSION TO THE CITY COUNCIL REGARDING THE USE OF MEASURE WW AND PARK DEVELOPMENT FEE FUNDS SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION As per the information received from the public input process requested by the City Council, the Recreation and Parks Commission recommends that the Measure WW and Park Development Fee (PDF) funds be used towards the following projects: Toyon Park Play Equipment; Marina Park Irrigation Improvements; Par Course Improvements; Marina Dog Park; San Leandro Ball Park Locker/Restroom Refurbishment; Stenzel Park Drainage; Marina Park Group Picnic Areas; Pacific l and 2 Bleachers; Resurface Skate Park with Concrete and all Parks Rehab of Asphalt Walkways. BACKGROUND At the September 14, 2009 City Council Work Session, the City Council directed the Recreation and Parks Commission to conduct a public input process and make a recommendation for the use of Measure WW and Park Development Fee funds. At the October 6, 2009 Recreation and Parks Commission meeting, the Commission determined a public input process and requested staff to provide a staff report to City Council to get their support of the process. At the October 19, 2009 City Council meeting staff explained the public input process proposed by the Recreation and Parks Commission. Councilmember Prola requested that one of the meetings be held at the Main Library and one of the meetings be held at the Marina Community Center. Councilmember Souza expressed a concern regarding the short timeline and the Council was assured that if the Commission did not feel valuable information came out of the meetings
