Project Description:
There are two proposed zoning code ordinances changes. The first proposed ordinance would amend
the City of San Leandro Zoning Code by adding new definitions and use characteristics of discount
superstores to the city zoning code. The second proposed change would create new water efficient
landscape ordinance that will require water conservation standards for some new landscape installations.
The proposed landscape ordinance would apply to all zoning districts in the City, including Planned
Development Districts, and the discount superstore ordinance would apply to commercial and industrial
zones. The proposed ordinances will not result in any new construction or physical improvements. The
water conservation ordinance is required by state law and will help city residents reduce overall water
use. The discount superstore ordinance will control the creation of regional supercenters that would
otherwise produce additional traffic and associated air quality impacts throughout the local area.
9.
