rterl U date
ua y p
Fourth Quarter 2009
City of San Leandro, Office of Business Development
835 East 14th Street, San Leandro, CA 94577
(510) 577-3311 l DowntownSanLeandro.com
"It's a Wonderful Night" Brings Holiday Cheer Downtown
he first annual "It's a Wonder-
ful Night" holiday celebration
took place in the new down-
town Joaquin Plaza on December 4th
The event, which is the next incarna-
tion of the Miracle on E. 14th Street
celebration, was very well attended.
Those who came out were treated to
horse-drawn carriage rides, photos
with Santa Claus and entertainment,
including carolers and dancers from
local schools, and a flugelhorn quar-
tet. Many who attended the City's
Tree Lighting Ceremony at City Hall
continued the evening of celebration
at "It's A Wonderful Night."
The Downtown Association views
this as their gift to the community
and Joaquin Plaza was a perfect
venue for the event. Using Redevel-
opment Agency funding, the Down-
town was beautifully decorated with
Christmas lights, and its vintage light
poles and fountain created a lovely
ambiance. Merchants surrounding
the Plaza got into the spirit of the
season, providing hot cocoa, pastries,
and other treats, and spreading a
healthy dose of holiday cheer.
A Downtown Symposium is
being planned for Tuesday,
March 30th from 5:00 a.rn. to
11:00 a.m. to bring together the
many people and organizations
interested in Downtown San
Leandro. Mark your calendars
as you won't want to miss this
exciting event. Further details
will be available at
DowntownSanLeandro.com or
contact Elmer Penaranda at
(510) 577-3314 or
epenaranda@ci.san-leandro.ca.us
for more information.
Inside This Issue ; New Restaurants to Open Downtown Autographed Football Gift
Yogofina Coming Soon Quarterly Marketing Update
