LJ <br />Parking <br />Changes <br />Two new parking lots opened in <br />the downtown area, providing <br />additional parking for both shoppers <br />and downtown employees. The first <br />lot, located at the former Albertsons <br />site at 1550 E. 14th Street, consists of <br />over 180 spaces. This parking lot is <br />available for free, all-day parking until <br />construction begins on the current <br />downtown garage. <br />When construction begins, downtown <br />employees will be able to purchase <br />parking permits for $30 per month. <br />The new garage, once built, will be <br />substantially larger and will provide <br />affordable long-term parking for <br />employees working in the downtown <br />area. <br />The other lot is located at the <br />intersection of Hays and Davis <br />streets at the former Mustang Bar <br />and Chamber of Commerce site and <br />consists of 40 spaces. This lot will also <br />be available for free, all-day parking <br />until construction begins on the <br />downtown garage, at which point it <br />will be used for permit parking. <br />October -December 2009 <br />Downtown Association <br />The Downtown Association has launched <br />a website update! Check it out at <br />www SanLeandroDowntownAssociation.org. SEay informed about special <br />events -visit the website and sign up for eIist. <br />The Downtown Association membership grew by 20% in 2009 and now <br />includes over 50 active business and property owners. All downtown <br />businesses are invited to join and participate. Annual membership <br />is a bargain, at $50/year! The mission of the San Leandro Downtown <br />Association is to create a positive, cooperative and inclusive atmosphere in <br />the downtown area that encourages and promotes commerce. <br />The Association meets once monthly from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on the fourth <br />Friday of each month. The meetings provide all businesses with the <br />opportunity to fast track concerns through City Hall, participate in the <br />planning of Downtown Events, leverage marketing through special events <br />and a presence on the Website, and talk directly with Police Department <br />representatives. We encourage all members to to ask for advice, share ideas <br />and partner to build commerce in our Downtown. <br />JOIN US! Contact the Downtown Association at <br />(510) 537-1370 or lawrenceallphinCyahoo.com. <br />Tapas <br />Bar to <br />Restaurant and Wine <br />Come to Parrott Street <br />The Vine, a tapas restaurant and wine bar specializing in <br />small plates and local and international wines, is currently <br />under construction next to <br />The Englander restaurant on <br />Parrott Street, and is working <br />toward an opening in late <br />February. Stay tuned for more <br />details about this exciting <br />new dining experience in <br />Downtown San Leandro. <br />`t ~s <br />-'~ <br />~~~- <br />Wine ~& Tapas ~-' <br />Sushi Restaurant <br />Under Construction <br />Ha-Ru Sushi is now under <br />construction downtown in the <br />former Taco Bell space located at <br />1443 E. 14th Street. This will be <br />the second location for the owners <br />of Ha-Ru Sushi who are building <br />on the success of their Alamo <br />restaurantby the same name.
