The Board <br />will make their final decision regarding budget reductions (required for <br />the Second Interim Report), noting that the Board must make budget <br />cut decisions at the February 23 meeting. <br />4. Discussion Regarding Future City Council and School Board Joint Work <br />Session <br />It was noted that in previous years joint sessions were scheduled on a <br />Monday or Tuesday in February; however, because of the pressing budget <br />situation this year and short timeline, it was decided to meet in April, after <br />the District's spring break (which is the first week of the month). <br />The committee discussed suggested topics for that meeting that included <br />school-based health care centers, raised by Councilmember Gregory, and the <br />Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Corridor proposal raised by Board member Hague. <br />Councilmember Gregory reported that with regards to the BRT, nothing has <br />been finalized, adding that there will be a Bicycle Advisory Committee <br />meeting on February 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the Helen Lawrence South Offices at <br />the City Hall where there will be an update on the project process and <br />schedule of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. City Manager Hollister, <br />suggested having an update on the school crossing guards and School <br />Resource Officers. (SRO). <br />5. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />None <br />6. COMMITTEE COMMENTS <br />Board member Mack-Rose hoped that all of the principals were "on <br />board" with the census activities planned. Washington Elementary <br />school will be having a "Rock and Roll" in February and a puppet show <br />is planned. Board member Mack-Rose reemphasized the importance of <br />effectively communicating to the community that the City and District <br />are being fiscally responsible and have the same needs. <br />Councilmember Gregory stated that there will be a City Disaster Plan <br />training workshop on January 25. He passed on the City's <br />Management Operations Plan to Interim Superintendent Cathey to <br />review. City Manager Hollister would like to have the City and District <br />participate in joint emergency preparedness exercises, adding that the <br />City will be attending a California state training, which is open to city <br />officials free of charge. He will check to see if the training is open to <br />school officials. <br />4 <br />
