Accepted as submitted. <br />Councilmember Prola pointed out that the Council's Transportation and Training <br />budget has been reduced in the past two budget years, and is proposed to be <br />reduced again in 2010-11. <br />Councilmember Souza added that in addition to savings from budget reductions, <br />there are savings from Transportation and Training funds that were budgeted but <br />unspent. <br />12. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Vice Mayor Starosciak attended the charrette for Siempre Verde Park. She congratulated the <br />Recreation and Human Services staff, Best Manor HOA and other local residents for their <br />hard work and ideas toward designing a beautiful park and providing strong justification for <br />the City's grant application. <br />Councilmember Prola attended the 50~' anniversary ribbon-cutting at Manor Bowl; the Sierra <br />Club meeting at Zocalo Coffeehouse; the community charrette for Siempre Verde Park; a <br />statewide steering committee meeting; the Chamber Small Business Council meeting, at <br />which they talked about the Shop San Leandro First campaign, and the Chamber's <br />Community Fair, which will be held at the Marina Community Center from 3-7 p.m. on <br />February 25~'; and the. Chamber's Installation Dinner. Councilmember Prola addressed the <br />City's Department Heads, expressing his appreciation for their service and sacrifice, and <br />commenting on the difficulty of the upcoming budget cuts. <br />Councilmember Stephens announced to the Council that he has selected Tom Fitzsimons to <br />fill his District 5 vacancy on the Planning Commission. <br />Councilmember Souza attended the Chamber's Installation Dinner. She thanked Recreation <br />and Human Services Director Carolyn Knudtson and Best Manor HOA President Corina <br />Lopez for their efforts with Siempre Verde Park. She commented on the recent Council <br />discussions on Ranked Choice Voting and Measure WW. Councilmember Souza noted that <br />37 participants in the Measure WW community workshops was considered a "good turnout," <br />and she stated that she will challenge herself to expect more and better community <br />participation on such issues in the future. <br />Councihnember Gregory attended the recent retreat of the East Bay Bicycle Coalition, which <br />also supports walking groups, and encouraged the Council to visit their website; the <br />Downtown Business Association meeting, at which it was announced that a celebration <br />kickoff for the Downtown was planned for May 2°d; and the Chamber Installation Dinner. <br />Councihnember Gregory reported that he participated in the selection process for the new <br />legal counsel for the Eden Township Healthcare District. <br />Mayor Santos commented on the last regular City Council meeting, in which he participated <br />via teleconference from Washington, D.C.
