MINERAL RESOURCES. Would the project: <br />a• Result in the loss of availability of a known mineral X 1, 2 <br />resource that would be of value to the region and the <br />residents of the state? <br />b• Result in the loss of availability of a locally, X 1, 2 <br />important mineral resource recovery site delineated <br />on a local general plan, specific plan or other land use <br />plan? <br />EXPLANATION: <br />a-b) Neither the State Geologist nor the State Mining and Geology Board has classified any areas in San Leandro as <br />containing mineral deposits which are of statewide significance or the significance of which requires further <br />evaluation. The 2002 General Plan EIR confirms that there are no mineral deposits of significance in the city limits. <br />The Housing Element proposes no changes that would change this condition. Thus, no impacts to mineral resources <br />would result from Housing Element adoption. <br />8. HAZARDS AND HAZARDOUS MATERIALS. Would t he project: <br />a. Create a significant hazard to the public or the X 1 <br />environment through the routine transport, use, or <br />disposal of hazardous materials? <br />b. Create a significant hazard to the public or the X 1, 2 <br />environment through reasonably foreseeable upset <br />and accident conditions involving the release of <br />hazardous materials into the environment? <br />c. Emit hazardous emissions or handle hazardous or X 1,2 <br />acutely hazardous materials, substances, or waste <br />within one-quarter mile of an existing or proposed <br />school? <br />d• Be located on a site which is included on a list of X 1,2,6,7 <br />hazardous materials sites and, as a result, would it <br />create a significant hazard to the public or the <br />environment? <br />e. For a project located within an airport land use plan, X 1, 2, 11 <br />would the project result in a safety hazard for people <br />residing or working in the project area? <br />f. For a project within the vicinity of a private airstrip, X 1 <br />would the project result in a safety hazard for people <br />residing or working in the project area? <br />g• Impair implementation of or physically interfere with X 1, 2 <br />an adopted emergency response plan or emergency <br />evacuation plan? <br />h• Expose people or structures to a significant risk of X 1, 2 <br />loss, injury or death involving wildland fires, <br />including where wildlands are adjacent to urbanized <br />areas or where residences are intermixed with <br />wildlands? <br />Housing Element Initial Study and Negative Declaration 16 February 2010 <br />
