Leandro, and West San Leandro/MacArthur Boulevard) and on housing issues. This Committee <br />replaced two previous RAC's one which represented West San Leandro/MacArthur Boulevard <br />project area and one that represented the Joint Alameda County-City of San Leandro project <br />area. <br />Senior Development Specialist Penaranda explained that to date the new RAC has meet seven <br />times and provided valuable input on the draft 2010-2014 Five Year Implementation Plan. They <br />have prioritized projects and programs in both the Plaza and Joint Project Areas. The draft plans <br />for the Plaza and Joint project areas are attached. <br />The Committee stated that having one RAC was an improvement. The undergrounding of <br />utilities was indentified as a priority project along E. 14th Street. <br />3. Update of Development Projects <br />a. Estabrook Place: Community Development Director Sims informed the Committee that the <br />51 units will be completed in June. Eden Housing is currently selecting tenants with a <br />projected move-in date of mid July. <br />b. Peterson Tractor: Sims informed the Committee that to his knowledge the reports in the <br />press that Peterson Tractor is moving to Livermore are unsubstantiated. Sims explained that <br />Peterson Tractor has been looking to relocate to a modern facility in Livermore for many <br />years, but has been unable make the move financially feasible. Sims added that Peterson <br />Power has no plans to move out of San Leandro. <br />c. ThyssenKrupp Elevator: will be moving its location from Hayward to San Leandro. <br />d. Creekside Plaza: Sims informed the Committee that the Regional Centers of the East Bay has <br />moved into the Creekside Plaza, and that a new restaurant named Creekside Bistro, will be <br />opening in late April that will serve breakfast and lunch. <br />e. Chicago Blues: demolition has been completed of the former Chicago Blue's Cafe in Palma <br />Plaza and construction is underway to create additional parking and landscaping at the <br />former building site. <br />f. Pee Wee's: the former Pee Wee's building has been leased by the Papa John's franchise. The <br />fire damaged building will be restored and the iconic neon sign renovated. <br />g. District 16 Union: this apprenticeship and journeyman union will be moving their training <br />facility from Hayward to San Leandro and will occupy 110,000 sq ft at the former Kellogg's <br />factory. The facility will employee between 50 and 60 teachers and accommodate 100 to 250 <br />students. <br />h. Farmers' Market: Business Development Manager Battenberg informed the Committee that <br />the extremely popular Farmer's market will reopen on May 5th and will include a Cinco De <br />Mayo celebration. <br />i. Nike Store: Nike Clearance Store will be opening April 15th at Marina Square in the former <br />Shoe Pavilion space. <br />
